Your union is aware that the Trustees of the No Frills/UFCW Canada Local 1000A Benefit Trust Fund, which covers eligible part-time No Frills employees, have very recently made a decision to amend the terms of coverage.
Your Union has filed a grievance relating to the funding of the plan and recommends that members save the receipts (or copies as the case may be) for expenses that are incurred which prior to the plan amendment would have been an eligible expense, pending a resolve to this issue.
Your union was founded in the 1940s –a groundbreaking and transformative decade for the Canadian labour movement.
It was in 1944 when a small group of Loblaws workers formed a union known as the Loblaw Workers’ Council, established a constitution, elected an executive and bargained their first collective agreement.
From the mid-1940s to mid-1950s, the Loblaw Workers’ Council operated with volunteers and represented workers in all Loblaw stores in Ontario. Workers donated their time to handle grievances, resolve differences with management, set bargaining priorities and negotiate agreements.

It is a mission of hope for the members of Women’s Issues Network (WIN), who created and distributed thousands of white ribbons to raise awareness and help bring an end to violence against women.
Members and the wider public received ribbons, along with informational cards, as part of WIN’s White Ribbon Campaign in the weeks leading up to and on December 6— the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women. On this day in 1989, 14 women were murdered at Montreal's École Polytechnique simply because they were women.
