After joining 1006A last year, members at Compass Group (Tim Hortons) have recently ratified their first contract.
The new contract runs from July 31, 2018 to July 31, 2021.
Gains achieved included wage increases, job posting language, secured benefits, overtime language recognizing seniority, health and safety language, and protection against discrimination and harassment.
The bargaining committee was comprised of Union Representative Carla MacFarlane, Director (Eastern Region) Roland Lapins and member Hailey Ivey.
“Hailey did a fantastic job being a strong and fair advocate for her co-workers at Compass Group,” said MacFarlane. “Our membership showed great solidarity in coming together to achieve this first contract.”
The Tim Hortons is based at the Oshawa courthouse.
“This first contract provides our members with a strong foundation to build upon for the future,” said President Wayne Hanley. “1006A members at Compass Group (Tim Hortons) have shown solidarity and courage are the keys to achieving fairness at the negotiating table. We look forward to working side by side with our members to improve their rights and livelihoods now and into the future.”
