Union negotiations committee for Emseal at the union office.

UFCW 1006A members at Emseal have ratified a new union contract.

“I am happy with the new contract,” said Wayne Clarke, a member of the negotiating committee. While the committee made gains, Clarke said they could have done more without the American tariffs. “It became a problem for us.”

The term of the union contract is from January 1, 2025 to December 31, 2027 and covers 130 members.

“I am pleased to congratulate our members on their new union contract,” said President Wayne Hanley.

The negotiating committee consisted of members, Wayne Clarke, Leavon Hawthorne, Delroy McLean and Hubert Thompson and Union Representative, Jonathan Lobo.

Emseal manufactures and distributes structural expansion joints and pre-compressed sealants.

Highlights

  • Wage increases of at least 11 per cent over the term of the union contract (including a 4 per cent increase retroactive to January 1, 2025)
  • Additional paid 15-minute break
  • Increase to annual dental coverage
  • Increase to vision coverage 
  • Unused paid personal time will be paid out at end of year
