UFCW 1006A members working at Ryder Supply Chain Solutions in Caledon made significant gains in their new union contract.
“Members are satisfied with the contract and happy that everyone was treated equally,” said Michael Creary, a member of the union’s negotiating committee.
The 3-year contract term is from July 3, 2026 to July 2, 2029 and covers nearly 50 members working at the facility.
“Our members at Ryder are a testament to what is possible when workers stand together,” said President Wayne Hanley. “Ryder workers joined Local 1006A in 2019, and with each new contract, their working conditions have steadily improved.”
The union negotiating committee included members, Michael Creary and Kevin Kennedy, as well as Union Representatives, Joe Blythe and Joshua Robichaud.
"When it comes to paid personal days, it’s really important for members – we now have a total of three, which I’m really proud of,” said Creary. “There are people who tell me that they feel a sense of security knowing that they are union members – there’s stability and predictability. It’s a big deal for UFCW to be in our facility.”
Highlights Include:
- Extra paid personal day (for a total of three)
- Lowered the employee contributions to the benefit plan by 5%
- An increase to the uniform allowance to $300 per year
- A 12.4% wage increase over three years for all classifications
