At polls held from May 12 to 14 across Ontario, Local 1000A members working at Loblaws Great Food and Superstore voted 97 per cent in favour of strike action if a fair contract is not reached.
Loblaw is the number one grocery retailer in this country because of your hard work and sacrifice. The company needs to recognize the valuable role you play in achieving that success.
With your resounding strike mandate, you have made it clear to the company that you strongly support your negotiating committee in achieving a fair contract for you and your co-workers.
On May 5, your union bargaining committee met with your employer for the 4th round of bargaining. At this meeting the Union received the employer’s response to our last position of April 23, 2015.
It was clear that the roadblocks to achieving a fair deal still remain. As a result, your union bargaining committee broke off negotiations.
Your union negotiating committee is urging all members who work at Loblaws Great Food and Superstore to attend membership meetings scheduled from May 12 to 14 at various locations throughout the province. Wages, benefits and working conditions are at stake and your support and participation is critical to achieve a fair deal.
At these meetings, you will be provided an update on negotiations and will have the opportunity to vote on a strike mandate. A strike mandate is needed to make it clear to the company that we are united and we will stand strong and fight hard for a fair deal.
