UFCW 1006A members at Comfort Inn in Sarnia have ratified a new union contract.
The term of the contract is from October 1, 2024 to September 30, 2027 and covers 14 members.
“UFCW 1006A provides the best union representation in Ontario for hotel workers by ensuring our negotiating committees are consistently achieving gains for our members,” said President Wayne Hanley. “Our union continues to elevate the rights and working conditions of hotel workers. I’m proud to congratulate our members on their new union contract.”
The negotiating committee included members Dani Roberts, Mela Van Schyndel and Union Representatives Joe Blythe and Greg Penner.
Highlights
- Wage increases of 11 per cent over the term of the contract
- Five paid sick days for all workers.

Improvements to contract language (Day-to-day union servicing, WSIB advocacy and Health & Safety, and strengthened seniority rights related to call-in hours)
