UFCW 1006A members working at Hilton Garden Inn in Mississauga made significant gains as they voted to approve a new union contract.
The union contract term is from January 13, 2024 to January 17, 2027 and covers 71 members.
“The contract is good — everyone is happy with it,” said Logan Krishnan, a negotiating committee member who works at the hotel.
Rosa Hinds, also a member of the committee, said she was happy with the wage increases.
“Overall, it is a fair contract, and an improvement from what we had before,” she said. “I liked it and most of the members liked it.”
The negotiating committee consisted of members, Simon Chiu, Rosa Hinds, and Logan Krishnan, Regional Director Don Taylor and Union Representative Diana O’Brien.
"With every new contract we negotiate, UFCW 1006A demonstrates why we are the best union for hotel workers seeking to improve their wages, benefits and working conditions,” said President Wayne Hanley. "When workers come together through UFCW representation, they gain the power to transform their livelihoods and rights for the better. I am proud to congratulate our members at Hilton Garden Inn on their new union contract. Our negotiating committee did an exceptional job in being a strong voice for our members.”
This hotel is located on Caroga Drive in Mississauga.
