UFCW 1006A members at Vanderwerf's Your Independent Grocer (YIG) in Port Elgin prevailed through intense negotiations, which brought them to the verge of a strike, to achieve a fair union contract.
The term of the agreement is from December 3, 2023 to February 18, 2028 and covers 81 workers.
“The negotiating committee was tireless in ensuring our members’ voices and concerns were heard and despite the challenges they faced, they persevered and achieved a fair and strong union contract,” said President Wayne Hanley. “I want to thank the committee members for their hard work and commitment and the membership for their support and participation in securing this union contract.”
The negotiating committee included members, Matt Fair, Erin Fenton, and Union Representatives, Kallisha Hoyes and Dustin Magee.
Highlights
