UFCW 1006A members at Grail Springs Retreat Centre in Bancroft have ratified a new union contract with gains.
Ratified on November 15, 2022, the term of the contract is from November 18, 2022 to November 17, 2025 and covers about 20 members.
“I’m pleased to congratulate our negotiating committee for their hard work in achieving a fair union contract for our members at Grail Springs,” said President Wayne Hanley. “Union representation is the key to building fairer workplaces where workers’ voices and needs are better met and I thank our negotiating committee members for stepping up and making a difference.”
The negotiations committee was composed of members, Opal Lewis, Micah Sagar, Union Representative, Gord Albert and Executive Assistant to the President Paul Docherty.
“It is difficult to negotiate any contract without having great members as part of the committee,” said Union Representative Gord Albert. "Both Micah and Opal brought a lot of the background and understanding to the bargaining table allowing the union to negotiate a fair settlement.”
Grail Springs workers joined Local 1006A in the summer of 2018. They work in various roles, including guest services, house keeping, kitchen staff, and servers. This is their second union contract.
