1006A members at Gibson Cleaners recently voted for a new contract with a wide range of gains, including wage and benefit improvements.
The contract runs from April 24, 2018 to April 23, 2021 and covers 12 workers.
“Outstanding union representation and member solidarity are the keys to achieving a fair union contract,” said President Wayne Hanley. “I’m proud to congratulate our negotiations committee and our membership for working together to achieve significant gains for their future."
Negotiations were led by Union Representative Rob Murphy with support from member Tammy Coombe.
Highlights:
- Wage increases, including for general help of 2% annually over term of agreement
- Increased advance notice of changes to shift
- Improvement to bereavement language
- Addition of one personal day
- Increase in employer contribution to health & welfare benefits
- Increase to eyewear coverage
- Improved and increased employer contribution to pension plan.
