Local 1000A is preparing for an exciting celebration of diversity and culture with the quickly approaching Pride festivities in Toronto, that will involve people from around the globe showing their Pride, from June 20 - 29.

"The struggle for equality and fairness is one that unites us all," said President Pearl Sawyer.
Local 1000A Members marched in the annual parade, which began at Brockville Armouries and finished at Hardy Park.
Under clear blue skies, UFCW Canada Local 1000A and Local 175 & 633 joined more than a million revelers in celebrating Pride 2013 on June 29 and 30 in downtown Toronto.
“Pride weekend is about standing up for a world free of discrimination and prejudice—a struggle that unites us all,” said Local 1000A President Pearl Sawyer.
The event marked the first time that Local 1000A and Local 175 & 633 have joined forces for Pride Toronto.
UFCW Canada Local1000A and the National Office were both awarded the prestigious Breaking Barriers Award at this year’s Canadian Association of Labour Media (CALM) conference in Edmonton, Alberta.
Normally, the Breaking Barriers Award is given to one winner, but this year – give the exceptional quality of both UFCW entries – the judges made the extraordinary decision to share the award between Local 1000A and the national office.
