Indigo workers across Canada are continuing to win union representation, with our newest members at Indigo Yorkdale Mall in Toronto becoming the latest group to join UFCW Canada Local 1006A. 

A steward for three years, Jaber has helped members with issues ranging from scheduling of hours to availability to harassment. Being friendly, open, prepared and understanding has been vital to his success as a steward.

Wage increases were among the gains achieved by UFCW 1006A members at Maple Leaf Canning in their new union contract.

Despite the pandemic, UFCW 1006A continues to help support life-saving research by helping raise $20,006 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Canada (LLSC).

UFCW 1006A recently welcomed cannabis workers from a third Tokyo Smoke location, this time at Scarborough’s Chartwell Shopping Center.

Paid Sick Days Save Lives

“Access to 10 paid sick days for workers in Ontario would have very simply reduced the spread of COVID in the workplace and saved lives,” said Katrina Miller, Program Director at The Broadbent Institute.
