UFCW Canada Local 1006A is proud to have raised $100,006 for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada in the past year.
The money was raised through union events and member fundraising initiatives across Ontario. This includes Light the Night events in Toronto, Ottawa and London, our Annual Golf Tournament, the Ride for A Cure, yard sales, bake sales, a Dart Tournament and much more.
“The seeds of hope which were planted over the thirty years of UFCW involvement have really flowered into something incredible,” said President Wayne Hanley. “As a result of our members’ efforts, fewer people are dying from Leukemia, Lymphoma and other blood cancers. More people are in remission and recovering. The hope we have now is that everyone survives leukemia and everyone benefits from the lifesaving work we have been doing for 30 years.”
Diana O’Brien, Coordinator of Leukemia Fundraising for Local 1006A, presented the cheque to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada on behalf of the Local 1006A at the annual UFCW Leukemia Gala.
“We are proud to do our part in the fight to find a cure for Leukemia, Lymphoma and other blood cancers,” said O’Brien. In total, UFCW Canada rasied $2,472,013 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Canada.
