Cannabis workers at the Tokyo Smoke store at 450 Yonge Street in Toronto have voted to join UFCW 1006A.
“Cannabis workers continue to turn to UFCW 1006A for protection and a strong voice at work,” said President Wayne Hanley. “We are pleased to welcome our newest members from Tokyo Smoke in Toronto.”
The bargaining unit is made up of six workers, who work as Educators and Key Holders.
The workers were motivated to join the local union for improved wages, benefits, paid sick days and safer working conditions.
"The workers showed amazing solidarity coming together for each other and for their future,” said Lesley Prince, Director of Organizing.
The Tokyo Smoke is located at 450 Yonge Street, Toronto.
UFCW 1006A represents workers at multiple Cannabis stores across Ontario.
