Members at Elbee Meat Packers recently made gains as they ratified a new union contract.
“The company knew we were serious about getting what we needed,” said Azazi Glwet, a member of the negotiating committee. “Overall members were happy with the contract – we improved benefits and negotiated retro pay.”
The three-year contact covers approximately 50 members and is in effect until May 31, 2027.
“Our members at Elbee made strong gains to their union contract,” said President Wayne Hanley. “As the union for food processing workers, we are pleased to continue to make strides for our members in this sector.”
The union negotiating committee included member Azazi Glwet and Union Representative Jonathan Lobo.
Highlights Include:
- $2.40 per hour wage increase over agreement term
- New hire orientation language
- Increase to vision care coverage
- Increase to annual dental coverage
- Strengthened health & safety language
