UFCW 1006A members, who work as security guards, at the Galleria Shopping Centre, in Toronto, have ratified a new union contract.
The term of the contract is from November 1, 2024 to October 31, 2027.
“I’m pleased to congratulate our negotiating team for their hard work on securing a fair union contract for our members at Galleria Shopping Centre,” said President Wayne Hanley. “We are proud to be Ontario’s best union for all workers seeking fairness at work.”
The negotiating team included member, Shereika Wright and Union Representatives, Joe Blythe and Amanmeet Singh.
Highlights
- Wage increases of more than 15 per cent over 3-year term of union contract.
- Secured two new 15-minute breaks for members
- Increased safety shoe allowance to $175 per year
- The length of time a discipline can be on members’ record has been reduced from 18 months to 12 months.
- Decreased “member co-pay” for benefits
- Improved severance language if location closes
