Ontario's Union for fairness, equality and respect at work.

UFCW 1006A members at the Spark by Hilton hotel (Toronto Markham) have achieved their first union contract.

“All the workers were very happy with the first union contract,” said Francis Ravichandra, who was a member of the negotiating committee. "It feels good to have a union to represent us and negotiate for us.”

The term of the contract is from January 1, 2024 to December 31, 2026 and covers 20 members.

“I am proud to congratulate our members at the Spark hotel for securing their first union contract,” said President Wayne Hanley. “A first contract is a major achievement, which empowers workers with rights and protections at work and provides a strong foundation to build on for the future. I’m inspired by our members’ dedication to each other and to creating a fair workplace – we look forward to working with them, to protect their rights under the new contract and help them achieve more improvements in the years ahead.”

The negotiating committee included member, Francis Ravichandra and Union Representatives, Joe Blythe and Amanmeet Singh.
