After an intensive and difficult set of negotiations, including a final 22-hour session that went through the night, UFCW 1006A’s negotiating committee for Loblaws Great Food and Real Canadian Superstore reached a Memorandum of Agreement with the company at 7 a.m. on Thursday, November 30, 2023.
Your committee fought hard to negotiate a historic industry-leading agreement which they believe is fair and meets the needs of our 13,000 members at Loblaws Great Food and Real Canadian Superstore. That is why your negotiating committee is unanimously recommending VOTING YES to accept this agreement.
The support and solidarity of our membership helped the committee achieve this agreement, which sets the highest standard for grocery retail workers and surpasses all recently negotiated contracts in the sector.
A ratification vote has been scheduled where members will be able to review the details of the Memorandum of Agreement prior to voting. Ratification vote information packages are being mailed to all members' homes.
The vote will take place online or by telephone from Tuesday, December 19 (1pm) to Friday, December 22 (1pm).
We are hosting two telephone town hall meetings for members to hear more about the agreement and ask questions.
