Local 1006A members and their families will be lighting the night across Ontario in support of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Canada.
UFCW 1006A teams are returning to London, Toronto and Ottawa to raise funds and hope for a cure.
Team members will carry lanterns symbolizing light in the dark world of cancer. Patients and survivors will carry white lanterns, supporters will carry red lanterns and those who have lost loved ones will carry gold lanterns. The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society provides lanterns and t-shirts to participants who raise $100 or more.
As a registered member of the team, you will be able to set up your own “fundraising” page and encourage friends and family to donate on your behalf. Your union is encouraging all those who are interested to register as a team member and join the UFCW Canada Local 1006A team for the walk scheduled closest to you.
"I’m very proud of our union’s commitment to eradicating this deadly disease,” said President Wayne Hanley, who participated in the Toronto event last year. “The millions our members have raised over the past three decades means more people are living longer and beating this once fatal diagnosis.”
