Our members have a lot to be proud of!
2018 has been a year of building strength for our great union.
We negotiated 20+ union contracts, all with improvements to wages and working conditions. Your union reps work hard to enforce these agreements, ensuring our members’ rights are respected.
Our union grew as we welcomed hundreds of workers seeking the value unionization brings.
For members that got injured on the job, our WSIB Department won 36 appeals and hundreds of thousands of dollars in compensation.
Over 400 members volunteered to attend Stewards’ and Health & Safety training, gaining skills and knowledge to better help our members.
Our committees continue to advance equality, justice and fairness as we hosted our first ever 1006Access Conference focused on equity issues.
Although we have much to celebrate, we know that for some, the holidays may not be so merry. To our members in a labour dispute at Baxtrom’s YIG, you have shown each other the warmth that solidarity brings. Your stand for a fair contract is inspiring – your union is with you 100%.
Your union movement is a force for good at work and in our communities – thank you for being part of the UFCW 1006A family.
