This Labour Day, September 3, I’m inviting you to join your union in standing up for fairness, respect and dignity for all workers across Ontario. Labour Day is an opportunity for union members to come together to build a province that works for all Ontarians.
The attacks on working families are just beginning in Ontario and it’s more important than ever for workers to speak up.
The Conservative government is cutting $100 million in funding for much needed school repairs and is imposing a hiring freeze on public servants. They are getting rid of the province’s cap and trade program, which would take away much needed revenue for vital services.
Join Us at the Toronto Labour Day Parade. Members and their families get free admission to the Canadian National Exhibition! Register Here.
IMPORTANT UPDATE ON LOCKOUT OF IATSE LOCAL 58 AT CNE
They have also promised to stop the minimum wage from increasing to $15 in January 2019.
Labour and community allies will be gathering in towns and cities across Ontario urging fairness for workers and their families.
Your union will be participating in Labour Day in downtown Toronto. Register if you can participate with us.
Finally, I wish you a Happy Labour Day and we look forward to celebrating with you.
In Solidarity,
Wayne Hanley
