Congratulations to Caitlyn McPhaden from the Real Canadian Superstore in Ajax on winning the 70th Anniversary Contest Grand Prize — $700 in PC Gift Cards!
“It feels amazing,” said McPhaden. “When I found out , I couldn’t believe it. I was like, ‘someone pinch me—I was over the moon.”
Caityln, a student at Durham College’s Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy program, said the prize comes at a much-needed time.
“I am grateful I was chosen — it takes a lot of weight off my shoulders financially,” she said.

"My union, UFCW Canada Local 1000A, has made a difference in my life, it has given me comfort and stability for the past four years while working at the Real Canadian Superstore. This year was a difficult time for my family and I as we lost both of my grandfathers less than 5 months apart. This challenging time was made easier by the bereavement time I was able to receive. The union ensured that I would not have to worry about losing a job that I rely on to pay for my schooling. The protection and job security the union has provided me has made the process easier and I could not be more thankful for the hard work they put in to ensure employees like myself are treated fairly and given the necessary time to grieve."
