Brenda's entry: My union, UFCW Canada Local 1000A, has made a difference in my life in a way that I am confident on my job, in a way that I feel secure that I will not be fired unfairly, or underpaid, since my union can stand up for me if such instances were to occur. If I ever get bullied or discriminated at the workplace, I can always inform my union representatives who will help me fix such issues. Knowing that I have a union to stand up for me and be a voice for me at the workplace makes me feel confident, feel job secure, and it also motivates me to work hard at my job because I know that it is a permanent job which can not easily be taken away from me. The fact that I get benefits (a right secured by my union) like dental benefits makes me happy because it helps me save money and reduces my financial burden.I am happy with my union because its presence in the workplace causes my employers to treat me fairly and justly and this consequently leaves me a happy employee.
