UFCW Members Eligible to Stand for Nomination and Election
The UFCW International Convention, held every five years, will take place in Chicago from Monday, August 12 to Friday, August 16, 2013. UFCW Canada Local 1000A is eligible to send 25 delegates.
Elected delegates will:
- elect international union officers
- debate and set the UFCW’s goals, priorities and policies, and
- review and consider amendments to the international constitution
Eligibility for Nomination and Election
To stand for nomination and election as a delegate to the convention, UFCW Canada Local 1000A members must, at the time of nomination:- be an active member of the local union who has been an active member in UFCW continuously since December 2011.
- must maintain continuous active membership in the local union until the first day of the convention.
Note: Delegates will require a valid passport for travel to the United States.
Nominations
Nominations will take place at Regional Membership Meetings across the province, scheduled from February 24 to March 7, 2013. The nominations will be conducted in addition to regular business.
Elections
Any member who accepts nomination will stand for election as a delegate to the international convention. Voting is scheduled for various polling locations from April 14 to April 25, 2013.
