Local 1000A member Cheryl Mennill had a lot to smile about at London’s Springbank Park on July 14.
Mennill, who works at a Great Food store in the area, was declared the winner of the ‘Local 1000A has Got Talent’ after showcasing her skills in creating balloon animals. She made and gave away several to the children in attendance.
“It was an awesome experience,” said Mennill, who came with her husband . “We really enjoyed ourselves.”
Mennill was among the Local 1000A members who turned out for the region’s third annual Community Action Network (CAN) BBQ. The all-day event drew people of all ages and cultures and featured soccer, a jumping castle, face-painting, bingo and all-you-can-eat BBQ.
Linda Loos, a steward at a Great Food store in the area, brought several family members along to the event.
“Everyone had a great time and really enjoyed themselves.”
For Tanya Rivers, a steward at Brian’s No Frills, it was her first CAN BBQ picnic at Springbank Park.
“It has been great with the friendly atmosphere and all the activities,” Rivers said.
