On August 9, 2011, Local 1000A’s Executive Board, in accordance with the local union bylaws, unanimously elected Kevin Benn to fill the vacancy in the position of Executive Vice President left by Pearl Sawyer when she became President on July 1, 2011. Kevin previously held the elected position of Recorder. Benn will serve as Executive Vice-President until the term expires on December 31, 2012.
Meanwhile, Dan Gilbert, former Director of Education and Training, was also unanimously elected to fill the vacancy left by Benn. Gilbert will serve as Recorder until the term expires on December 31, 2012.
