UFCW 1006A members at the Hilton Garden Inn in Vaughan have ratified a new union contract.
The contract term is from June 31, 2023 to December 31, 2026 and covers 48 members.
“It’s a very good contract for the members,” said Raj Nadarajah, a member of the negotiating committee. “The raises were good over the three years.”
The negotiating committee included members, Rita Alekseyenko, Rajeswaran Nadarajah, Joanne Nugent, Sarath Pillai, Camila Rocha and Union Representative Frank Mensah and Executive Assistant to the President Frank Ragni.
"I am pleased to congratulate our negotiating committee for achieving a fair union contract that meets the needs of our membership at Hilton Garden Inn,” said President Wayne Hanley. “UFCW 1006A is proud to be the best union in Ontario for hotel workers seeking fairness at work.”
A major gain was securing increased severance pay language for our members, as the employer has announced the hotel will close in three years.
