1006A members at Heidi’s YIG continue to build a fairer workplace, recently ratifying a new union contract with gains.
“UFCW is the leading union for grocery store workers and UFCW 1006A has a strong track record of helping grocery retail workers across Ontario achieve fairness in their workplace and build a better life for themselves and their loved ones,” said President Wayne Hanley. “We are proud of our negotiating committee at Heidi’s YIG for their efforts in achieving a fair union contract for the membership."
The term of the contract is from May 27, 2023 to May 26, 2028 and covers about 90 members.
The negotiating committee included members, Penny Patterson and Jeremy Ironside and Union Representative Greg Penner.
Highlights
- Signing Bonus Full-time - $400, End Rate Part-time - $350, Part-time Students - $100
- Signficant wage increases for members at End Rate working part-time or full-time.
- Shortened wage progression to ensure part-timers make it to end rate of pay faster
