UFCW 1006A members at Essex Linen have ratified a new union contract with wage and benefit gains, amidst the challenges posed by the pandemic.
With shutdowns to curb the spread of COVID-19, negotiators and members had to grapple with a significant downturn in the business.
“Our negotiating committee worked through the intense challenges posed by the pandemic to achieve this contract with gains for our membership at Essex Linen,” said President Wayne Hanley. “I want to thank our committee for their hardwork and perseverance during these difficult times.”
The term of the contract is from November 1, 2019 to October 31, 2022.
Negotiations were led by Union Representative Greg Penner with assistance from Regional Director Brian Reid, and members Debbie McLeod and Jan Vincent.
