UFCW 1006A observed Bear Witness Day on May 10.

Bear Witness Day centres around Jordan’s Principle, which ensures all First Nations children can access supports, services and products they need when they need them.

In spite of the law, First Nation children are still facing challenges due to lack of adequate funding for healthcare, education and other social services.

Jordan’s Principle is named for Jordan River Anderson, a young child who died while waiting to get the home-based care he needed.

Jordan’s Principle was passed by the House of Commons more than a decade ago, to help support First Nations children and ensure they get the services and support they need.
